Crowdys Hill School – Primary
Our Primary School opened in September 2016. We have 39 children on roll in 5 classes.
We cater for the needs of young people with an Education Health Care Plan who have moderate learning difficulties. Many of our young people also have other complex needs, which may include physical and medical needs.
Our ethos of inclusion, and promotion of independence is at the forefront of what we do. Our classrooms are happy and exciting places to learn. Our curriculum provides a broad and balanced experience that reflects the individual needs of pupils and ensures a firm focus on developing children at their own pace and level using individualised planning.
Our team have access to specialist equipment, resources and outside agencies in order to provide early intervention and an appropriate curriculum for all of our children. Our staff are trained in SEN teaching, and we have access to a variety of support within school, such as speech and language, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and social skills support sessions.
As part of our curriculum we visit the school farm every week. We complete activities such as feeding the animals, grooming the horses/donkeys, walking the alpacas, sweeping the yard and many more exciting activities. This is a fun filled opportunity which the children really enjoy each week.
In Primary we use a combination of The Jolly Phonics and Letters and sounds programme of study to teach phonics and early reading. This forms part of our individualised planning for each child.
We will seek to promote British values of democracy and fairness, and our aim is for our young people to be valued citizens with a good sense of self-worth.
