Education SEN Outreach

The purpose of the Outreach Team is to support children/young people at the point of need through planning and delivering targeted outreach services.

The Outreach Team will provide a need led personalised programme of support that puts children’s needs at the centre of what we do to respond effectively. The Outreach Programme will take into consideration their assessed special educational needs, disabilities, previous experiences and the wider needs of the family/Carers.

The Outreach Team will assess and explore the child/young person’s individual profile of strengths and difficulties and develop partnerships with schools to inform the planning of outreach delivery.

Sensory Needs

This course focuses on the seven senses and what they may look like with the children we work with. We look at over and under responsive behaviours for each sense and ways to support the child based on this. Course will run for 60 minutes and is free to schools within Swindon. Attention Autism

This is a programme that was developed by Gina Davis, a speech and language specialist, to support the development of attention and focus in autistic children. Attention Autism is a programme that we run at school usually two or three times a week. READ MORE ▾

The programme is designed to build up attention levels and encourage the children to be able to focus on activities not of their choice. The sessions move on to turn taking and carrying out tasks independently. The programme begins with stage 1, which is designed to grab the children’s attention and get them to focus on an object for increasing amounts of time. In stage 2 the children are presented with an exciting activity which encourages them to focus for longer and supports further development of vocabulary. In stage 3 the children are supported to shift their attention by taking a turn and in stage 4 they watch a modelled activity before completing it independently. We have found that by following the programme regularly the children are more able to focus during learning tasks during the school day.
